When purchasing items from stores, normally, they would present us with plastic bags to carry the things we bought. Sadly, plastic bags don’t decompose fast. It takes them a thousand years to biodegrade. Since people approximately use 500 billion of plastic bags every year, just imagine how many plastic bags are scattered in our environment. Worse, they even breakdown into toxic substances which can get mixed with our water supply. If we continue to use such, we might not have a clean place to live in someday. People who decide to take action then decide to use custom reusable grocery bags. Such bags are made from cotton and other materials which decompose fast. Now these are more preferred by people who really care for the environment.

You may say why use such materials when paper bags are also available. They are also biodegradable and they are cheaper than cotton bags or other reusable shopping bags. Well, this may be true however, paper come from trees. The more demand we have of paper means the more trees we have to cut. Since we are losing a lot of our forests people think of different ways to create alternatives for paper like seed paper made from flower seeds or reprocessing of existing used papers and such. Because of this, it may not be a great idea to waste paper bags every day that is if we want to save our trees. Remember that trees don’t grow fast. It takes time for them to grow back again and others even die.
